THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE & THE BEYOND:

A LOOK INTO THE FUTURE OF THE SERIES

by Elizabeth Hazel, Astrologer

The following article is an astrologically-based forecast of the contents of books 6 and 7 of the Harry Potter series, but please see the accompanying Order of the Phoenix article for even more information! [Kate note: These are not spoilers! They are simply the findings by Elizabeth Hazel in her reading. They may or may not come true!]

I’ve used Harry’s birth chart as the primary source, and have followed Hermione and Ron’s charts when needed. Harry’s chart works like a dream – as long as you are willing to read it in worst-case-scenario mode!

These predictions are made using transits, the movement of the planets during the time period included in books 6 and 7 - the summer of 1996 through 1998. Another astronomical phenomenon noted is eclipses and full moons. Interested readers may wish to study “Astrological Case Study: Order of the Phoenix,” an analysis covering the events of the previous book. The foundation for the following predictions was established in this manner.

I began the transit analysis process in June by studying the transits of this time period. Several coming events were revealed by this process, and I included them in my notes. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on viewpoint), the author has released some advanced information about these books that confirmed these predictions. My spoiling was spoiled! However, I am fairly confident about the events conjectured here, as the language of the charts was solidly established with the fifth book. Only time – and the release of these books – will confirm or deny the accuracy of the information provided here.

Astrological Notation Key -
T = Transiting, current location. (example: Mercury T)
N = Natal, the place where it is located in a birth chart (if not otherwise specified, refers to Harry Potter's natal placements). (example: Venus N)
New/Full Moons and Eclipse: exact dates are given.

*****

The Half Blood Prince (Book Six, 1996 – 1997)

Early July 1996. (ends time-line of Order of the Phoenix) Harry returns to the Dursley home on Privet Drive. Members of the Order impress upon Vernon Dursley the importance of treating Harry well, and allowing him to communicate with others. (Venus T direct at 11 Gemini, conjunct Mars; both square Jupiter N; Saturn T trine Sun N).

Elements of the past necessary to the continuing story line are provided relating to his grandparents and parents, with reference to their home or living arrangements prior to death. Facts may include both assistance and treachery in the lives of James and Lily Potter, details of their personal relationship, as well as the nature of their commitment in the battle against Voldemort. (Jupiter T square Mars N; Mercury T enters 4th house Cancer; Venus and Mars T trine Mars N).

July 11: Important messages, test scores arrive (Mercury T conjunct Sun T conjunct Mercury N)

July 18: Attack on Privet Drive; Aunt Petunia is in great danger, may be injured or killed in attack; Harry has to leave the Dursleys for hidden, distant, or remote location, possibly overseas. Harry gets a new teacher or mentor. Possible candidates: Madame Maxime, Aberforth Dumbledore, Remus Lupin; or new character not yet introduced. (Mars T conjunct Venus N; Jupiter T square Mars N; Jupiter T trine Jupiter N).

July 30: Harry struggles to re-identify himself, come to terms with his grief for Sirius. Emotions are turbulent; depression is possible; Harry discovers new information about his parents and their death that is upsetting (Blue Moon/Full Moon at 7 Aquarius conjunct Uranus T and opposite Sun N).

August: Harry continues to struggle with depression, and resolve his feelings about the death of Sirius, is given more information about events surrounding the death of his parents in 1981. He must learn to shield his emotions from penetration from Voldemort, who is in deep hiding (Saturn T retrograde conjunct Moon N).

September. Sixth year at Hogwarts begins. Harry makes a long journey to get to the school. New professors introduced; the new Defense Against the Dark Arts instructor will be of unusual or foreign origin. (Jupiter T direct station)

September 15: Harry finds a new girlfriend or has some other form of positive attention; Quidditch team reformed with new members and new captain. (Venus T conjunct Sun N).

September 23: New classes demand focused attention and direct action; new forms of magic and lessons demand strength and physical endurance (Mars T conjunct Sun N).

September 26: Problems at the Ministry of Magic; Fudge loses control of the dementors, other actions or scandals revealed, including any influence of the Death Eaters on Fudge or ministry officials; jail break from Azkaban, Death Eaters escape (Mercury T direct station conjunct Pluto N)

September 27: Harry gets wide-spread publicity, or is in public eye; may have return of headaches; his emotions are subject to turbulent upheaval from events on the previous day. (Total Lunar Eclipse at 4 Aries conjunct Moon N; Chiron T conjunct Pluto N).

October 11-12: Period of extreme instability, particularly at the Ministry. A new minister of magic takes power – Fudge gets the boot. The new minister will probably be chosen from the Wizengemot, with Madame Amelia Bones as chief candidate. There may be some details of the political process of the wizard world – nominations of candidates and elections. Voldemort remains in hiding; Harry’s headaches may decrease in severity, although there is a focus on wounds, scars, marks, or other distinctive distinguishing physical traits. (Solar Eclipse and Mercury T at 19 Libra conjunct Pluto N)

October 20 – 26: Harry excels in class work, learns new spells or develops new abilities; is able to perform magic at a higher level than previously; the Ministry moves in a positive direction, taking steps to protect the public against Voldemort and the Death Eaters. Exciting Quidditch match, lucky breaks and good timing. (Jupiter T trine Jupiter N).

At this point in the year Harry is having an easier time of it. His emotions are more settled, but the demands of his class work require more focus and discipline. He should be making good progress in his higher level classes. Harry will continue to be reluctant to reveal the full prophecy to Ron and Hermione, and may keep secrets from them for a few more months. Harry is now compelled to become more emotionally mature. Although he may have a new love interest early in the school year, he will resist deep involvement as other priorities demand his attention. During October, minor characters will be more developed, and become more important to the central plot line (for instance, Neville, Luna, and Ginny).

November. Harry has to learn more in Transfiguration and may begin rudimentary lessons in Apparition or other advanced magic. His budding relationship progresses, but odd events may surround this. The new Minister of Magic moves forward with initiatives, gains public support. Harry may find some basic skills he has to brush up before he can progress to more difficult lessons. His occlumency lessons either resume or continue. He is still emotionally reticent, keeps his secrets to himself, and works with a private tutor who is training him; he may have other responsibilities that are added to his school regimen, although others may not be aware of this. (Mercury T in Scorpio and Sagittarius; Venus T in Libra; Jupiter T square Pluto N; Mars T in Virgo, slowing as it prepares to retrograde; Saturn T conjunct Ascendant N).

November 25: Possible contact with Sirius Black (Full Moon at 3 Gemini)

Late November and Early December: This is a build-up period, a time in the HP story line when past history is revealed, and mysteries from the past that have been withheld are resolved with necessary disclosure. A great deal may be related about Harry’s parents, his mother and his mother’s family, and both sets of grandparents; also about his parent’s friends and their political activities. (Slow moving planets Uranus and Pluto T are in very good aspect to Moon/Ascendant N; Saturn T makes its direct station on Moon/Ascendant N; Neptune T trines Saturn N).

December 22: School break for Christmas holiday season. Harry travels into the past, either figuratively or literally. There is likely a necessary reason for this, provoked by a quarrel or a challenge. He may make a journey to his parent’s or grandparent’s home. This is a period when Harry is likely to receive legacies and inheritances, including money, property, tools, and information. This is a positive and critical vacation period – what he receives from the past from his family will aid him in succeeding in his future. (Mercury T retrograde station opposition Mercury N; Venus T in Sagittarius trine Sun N; Mars T conjunct Saturn N; Jupiter T trine Saturn N; Uranus T sextile Moon N)

January 1997. Harry’s magical abilities expand dramatically as the year begins, and he discovers he is able to perform extremely advanced or unusual magic; these capacities may be a legacy from his father or from Voldemort. He may learn how to get information from Voldemort without him being aware of it. This is a time of tremendous benefits and progress in any private studies with a mentor/professor. (Jupiter T conjunct Neptune T trine Saturn N – this is an aspect that lasts for several weeks; also the North Node T is conjunct Descendant N for several weeks)

Information about Hermione’s past or some of her personal secrets comes to light; as the New Year begins, it becomes apparent that she has secrets or hidden relationships. (Mercury T retrogrades her 12th house; Jupiter T approaches her Ascendant; New Moon on Jan 9 conjunct her 12th house Moon N; Full Moon on Jan 23 conjunct her Descendant)

January 12: Students return to Hogwarts; secrets are exchanged between the trio of friends at this time, most likely about Hermione. (Mercury T direct station; Mars T enters Libra; Venus T conjunct Neptune N)

January 21: Necessary information about the wizard world – its society, customs and culture – is disclosed. Around this time, Harry may discover that his father’s friends are not what they appear to be, and the issue about the Potter’s secret keeper comes into close scrutiny. Secret or hidden roles of the adults around Harry are questioned or revealed. Additional information about Voldemort may become known, especially about his mother and his school years. (Mars T in Libra opposes Moon N; Saturn T conjunct Moon N for the 3d time).

January 23: More open information is available to the public, Harry’s actions are discussed by journalists, or the Ministry becomes more active in pursuing Death Eaters. Harry is visibly more emotionally mature, and is more comfortable with his relationships and confident in his activities. He may finally share the entire prophecy with Hermione and Ron. (Full Moon at 3 Leo trine Moon N and Saturn T)

February 5 – 19: This time period holds great triumphs for Harry and his friends, but may also give some victories to Voldemort and the Death Eaters as some of their insidious political agendas can cause dissention within the Ministry. Hermione’s clever and astute views on any and all of these events are of critical importance. (Uranus and Jupiter T sextile Pluto T; Jupiter T sextile Saturn T; Saturn T trine Pluto T).

February 6: Harry’s secret lessons are discovered, or Draco Malfoy may initiate some type of assault; areas of the Ministry are in danger of infiltration and manipulation; the identities and roles of adult men are uncertain and prone to suspicion. (Mars T retrogrades in Libra, with continuing effects through April ’97)

February 6 – 7 – 8: Harry’s love life in development, as are his skills and talents. Major discoveries about Hermione – her past, family relationships, and abilities – will be revealed. This information may be gained as a result of some attack on Hermione, or something she does that requires more than a simple explanation to the others. (Critical alignment of Venus T, Jupiter T and Uranus T sextile Pluto T in good aspect to Harry’s Sun N and Moon/Ascendant N; please note that this alignment is a major test for the accuracy of the rectified Ascendant for Hermione; if this doesn’t happen, then I have to go back to the drawing board and rework her chart)

February 11 – 14: Hermione’s chart continues to have critical and continual activation. This promotes a much more active role for her, either as Harry’s ally and chief source of information, or as a political activist. Harry receives messages from secret admirers around Valentine’s Day, and more open discussions with new girlfriend (Mercury T conjunct Jupiter/Uranus T conjunct Hermione’s rectified Ascendant; Mercury/Jupiter/Uranus T oppose Harry’s Sun N)

Late February: Hermione’s past history continues to be of concern, and what is revealed will be a clear indication of the role she will play in the future unfolding of events. Her “fate” in the story is more specific; she may also reveal more about her relationship with Victor Krum. (Neptune T trine North Node T and Hermione’s Saturn N)

Late February and Early March: The spring of ’97 will bring dramatic development in Harry’s personality, abilities, and physical development. Puberty will be in full swing, he may start growing facial hair or have more pressing sexual urges. People in his immediate environment may be able to surprise him, catch him off guard; he will have blows to his ego during this time period (Jupiter T opposite Sun N). There will be uncomfortable mysteries or suspicious events that relate to the Ministry; again, people’s roles in the government may be suspected as signs of infiltration are evident (Neptune T hovers near Harry’s Midheaven).

March 1: Ron may begin or accelerate an important relationship with a girl, or gain some benefit from his siblings (Mercury T conjunct Venus T opposite Ron’s Moon-Mars-Jupiter N)

March 9: Early March will bring events around Hermione’s home or her parents, and continue to emphasize the importance of Hermione in the unfolding story line. She may be attacked at this time, blind-sided, or taken advantage of in a sinister manner. There are new mysteries connected with absences. Behavior of others toward Harry may change without explanation and seem suspicious. (Total Solar Eclipse at 18 Pisces opposite Hermione’s Jupiter N; Mars T retrograde on Harry’s Descendant)

March 22-23: Harry and Ron are attacked or get into some kind of trouble; perhaps failure at lessons or defeat in sports; physical injuries or detentions (Mars T retrograde conjunct Harry and Ron’s Saturn N)

March 20-24: Harry’s love life surges into action; he gets some positive attention from a girl or woman; his emotions are on a definite upswing, and his response to romantic attraction increases. (Venus T and Sun T enter his first house; Lunar Eclipse at 3 Libra opposite Moon N)

April 15: The middle of this month is a time of vicious assaults, attacks, and misleading information, possibly cruel tricks. There is an identity crisis for Harry; he will be separated from his friends by the secret demands on his time and energies, or feel abandoned as adults he relies upon must exit the scene to perform secret activities relating to the Order. He may have to face unfair accusations, or have to lie to cover his secret activities. One of his parents’ friends or peers continues to provoke suspicion (Lupin or Snape are likely candidates); there is great uneasiness in Harry’s world, and some assumptions or impressions of disclosed family history may again be changed in an uncomfortable manner. The people in Harry’s environment can shock and surprise him; this includes exchanges with house elves or centaurs, or other non-human creatures. (Mercury T retrograde square Sun N; Saturn T opposite Mars N; Uranus T opposite Sun N; Jupiter T square Uranus N)

Late April: Harry is feeling oppressed, unable to defend himself, unable to control events in the outside world. Opponents gain ground through enticements, deceptions, thefts, or infiltration. He is in conflict with teachers, or teachers impose severely difficult tests and challenges. This is a time of treachery and betrayal, very likely associated with the Death Eaters and their activities coming to light. Harry has a difficult time expressing his feelings, or talking about what is bothering him, and is restrained from taking action. There will be a diversionary attack of some sort, although the ulterior motive for it will not be revealed until late June. (Saturn T opposes Mars N; Jupiter T trine Pluto N and inconjunct Mercury N; Full Moon on April 22 at 2 Scorpio square Sun N)

Hermione becomes more aggressive, defensive; her appearance may change as well as her behavior. Harry and Ron become aware that Hermione has more secrets. She may be developing a love relationship in secret, or is maintaining a secret correspondence that is discovered as this month ends. (Mars T retrograde in conjunction with Hermione’s Saturn, Sun, and Jupiter during April; Mars direct station on April 27; Saturn T trine her Venus N)

May 2: Political progress at the Ministry dissolves, and those who support progressive policies are unable to sustain their momentum. Enemies appear out of nowhere, or heretofore invisible enemies emerge. An important development is blatantly ignored in the press, or the information is manipulated or incomplete. (Neptune T retrograde station conjunct Midheaven N)

May 8: An uncomfortable mystery surrounding an adult is resolved in a positive manner, and some of the difficult restrictions or worries around Harry are lifted (Mercury T direct station trine Midheaven N)

May 13: Attacks on Harry’s friends or other students, friend’s families and homes (this may involve Percy or the Grangers); upheavals and upsets as illusions are blasted to shreds. Love relationships are also prone to difficulties. Harry’s feelings are turned upside-down, as May is a bad month for him on a very personal level. He may be attacked, mocked, or have his words or actions misinterpreted. (Uranus T retrograde station exactly opposite Harry’s Sun N)

May 18 – 31: More information is revealed about Harry’s parents or their associates and activities, some of which may be shocking or uncomfortable. A death in a distant location is reported, or Harry is once again in the position of losing the people and things that he most values in life; or be forced to make a hard choice about what he can keep and what he must release. Loyalties are strained. (Jupiter T square Uranus N; May 31 - Venus T conjunct Venus N)

June 1-7: Harry and Ron begin to suspect a hidden motive behind the diversionary attack in late April, but are stumped by lack of information. Another assault is possible, especially through sporting activities or sabotage. June 6 looks especially bad for this. (Mars T conjunct Saturn N) There are also surprise endings and resolutions, tests of skill; messages of betrayals and reversals in the position of the enemies. Peter Pettigrew’s position or alliance may shift. (Mercury T opposite Uranus N, and trine Saturn N)
