The HLH.com Group RULES!

THE RULES MUST READ BEFORE POSTING AND YOU MUST FOLLOW. IF YOU DON'T, YOU WILL BE DISMISSED FROM THE GROUP. NO ACCEPTIONS!!!!

I can't stress this enough. You will not be allowed to post until you send me a mail that states you have read the rules, along with the password. I have a low tolerance for certain behavior so please try to follow these rules! I also will not respond to mails from people asking to join, claiming they have "read the rules" when they don't send the password. You're either lying or you're stupid.

When you are done reading, please mail me WITH THE PASSWORD at kate@harryloveshermione.com and I will send you an invite. ; )

1. This is a Harry Loves Hermione List: Any HHr or HLH site discussion is allowed. Spoilers, Dan-Emma ship talk and actor discussion are allowed. If adult conversation makes you uncomfortable, then please don't join! Off-topic (OT) discussion is allowed. Be sure to label your mail OT (in the subject line) accordingly, like, "OT: Saw a great movie last night." OT convos that go on for weeks will be asked to move off-list.

2. No arguments or ship bashing!: This is a list for HHr fans, not for fools who want to start trouble. Joining this list means that you agree that you are an HHr shipper, or that you will HOLD YOUR TONGUE if you aren't. We can all take pride in our ship, discuss annoyances with the author or characters, but specific and blatant bashing of other shipper groups (i.e., "RHr shippers are dumb!") will not be tolerated.

3. Mail headers: ALWAYS HAVE A SUBJECT HEADER!!!!!!!!! If you receive a digest of the group's mails, please rename the subject line accordingly. "re: Digest #328" is not acceptable. If you do not use a proper header, you will be removed.

4. Annoying Mail Behavior: Nothing annoys me more than how some people write their mails. For the love of all that's freakin' holy, DO NOT use all caps, net-speak or a ridiculous amount of punctuation in either your subject line or mail. This is a major personal annoyance! Also, please do not ask people to respond to you as though you were a dog begging for a treat. People will respond if they want to. Finally, while it's always nice to have personal discussion on the group, please DO NOT use this list as your therapy group. We aren't here to listen to you drone on about your love life, your school issues, your personal problems or how you plan on marrying Dan/Emma when you grow up. Talk about personal stuff, but don't use this group as your daily soap box!

5. Post HBP Convos: HHr was the sole reason I enjoyed the series which is why I'm not really interested in it anymore. But just because I'm bummed out doesn't mean everyone has to be. Please feel free to continue being excited about the books and offer discussions! That being said... there's this new form of HHr shipper emerging lately that's sort of creepy: the kind that are constantly seeing a sickeningly cheerful brightside. It's annoying and sort of scary. Feel free to talk about how and why you still love the books and express your excitement for the last books, etc. But remember that most of us want to enjoy HHr as it was and how we remember it, not because of how you still see clues toward HHr.

6. Spam, Chain Letters, Linking to Other Websites et. al.: Absolutely no mass-postings, spam or chain letters. Mass postings like "Send me this picture, my e-mail is request@mail.com," "Send this letter to 7 people and you'll have a great love life," or "Please visitthissite.com to vote!" are not permitted. Do not ask us to visit another site if it isn't related to HHr. Also, please don't join simply to promote yourself or your site/group.

7. Do not appoint yourself the moderator of the group: Something that really annoys me about other lists I've run is that there's always someone that feels they need to "moderate" the list for me. Please do not take it upon yourself to boss everyone around.

8. Snip Mail: Remember that all mail you send will be seen by the entire group, so try to snip mail. This means to delete the parts of the original message that are not important to your reply (including personal signatures)! Try to post your reply below the text you're replying to.

9. What is said here, stays here: This is a private group and I ask you to respect that. All postings are made under the assumption that they will remain private and on this list only. This includes e-mail addresses of group members.

10. Hovering: Please DO NOT join this group if all you plan to do is hover and never participate. I understand that this is a great group and we often get spoilers and image exclusives, but it's rude to join for this reason alone. It's fine if you don't talk often-- God knows I can't talk every day. But make some effort to actively participate at least in a small way sometimes. Otherwise, it's sort of pointless to join a discussion group! As of now, members who are admitted who don't participate in conversations at least once a month will be removed.

11. The Password/Passcode: When you e-mail me with a request to join, I'll send you a mail asking you to read the rules and give me the password. This is to ENSURE that you have read the rules and didn't just lie and say you did. The password changes periodically. The password is: Abby and Luka.

12. I will not be a babysitter: Finally, I reserve the right to boot you out for any reason that trips my fancy. Not following the rules, being rude to another poster, or just being generally annoying will get you kicked out. If at any time I feel I need to become a babysitter because people can't behave like human beings, I will simply delete the group. I don't want to do this but I don't have time to go over every single person's mail to make sure that they aren't being a monkey.

I reserve the right to change or alter these rules at any time. I will let you know if there are any major changes. More things come up the bigger a group gets so there's a chance things will be changed here and there. If anyone is having a problem with a member that I'm not aware of, please mail me at any time!!!

The HLH.com Group Instructions!

This is an invite-only group. You must be invited in order to join. Clicking on the subscribe button will not gain you access to the group. You must mail me personally. This is so that I can, hopefully, weed out any flamers. Instructions on how to become a member:

¤  How to Become a Member
To become a member, you must e-mail me after you have read the rules above (where you'll send me the password) at this specific link: Joining the Group!. Mailing me at any other address for this group will result in your mail getting lost. Once you mail me with the password, I will send your invitation out. Yahoo invitations expire within 24 hours so don't forget! Once that's all done, you will have access to the group.

The reason I make you go through such hoops is so, this way, I'll have a saved record of everyone's e-mail address in case anyone decides to act silly or begins flaming another poster. I've been running or helping to run Yahoo Groups for years now, so I've learned this is the best way to do it. If anyone does act foolish, not only will I boot them from the group, but they won't be able to sign up under a different name because I'll have their e-mail address and therefore their ISP address. Also, I can and will report them to their ISP. I will NOT tolerate people signing up just to flame.

¤  How It Works
The mail address is hlhr@yahoogroups.com. This address is important to remember! The way a Yahoo group works is that you send a mail (using the address above) and that mail is then sent to the entire group. You can also post on the website itself, under the messages section, but it's much more convenient to post using a simple mail. Remember that any mail you send out will be seen by everyone (and you cannot unsend). So be careful about what you write.

¤  Registering With Yahoo
I believe you must have a Yahoo account in order to post to the group. It's very easy to get one and it's free. Lots of people have them so that they can join the groups. But you don't have to use that address to receive messages. The groups are free to use, so Yahoo asks that you simply sign up to get a mailing address. Simply use this link and fill in some info. Once you've joined, you can then access the group.

¤  Monitoring and Changing Group Settings
You can monitor ALL your Yahoo!Groups settings at your "E-Mail Preferences" and "Edit My Groups" pages (you need to be signed in with your Yahoo username and password):
http://groups.yahoo.com/myprefs
http://groups.yahoo.com/mygroups?edit=1

Yahoo!Groups is a mailing list that sends out posted messages to all members of the group as e-mails. The following mail settings are available:

1) You can get e-mails delivered to your personal mailbox individually (all messages);
2) You can receive compiled messages (about 25 per e-mail) as a "daily digest";
3) You can choose "no mail" or "special notices" -- you won't get any e-mails, and you can still browse all messages at the group's website.

¤  Changing Your E-Mail Address
You can assign new or alternate e-mail addresses to your Yahoo ID (i.e. forwarding) without it having an effect on either your Yahoo or HLH memberships. Simply go to your MyPrefs page, click "Add Email Address" or "Remove Email Address," follow the steps to verify this, and your Yahoo account is updated. To change addresses for your groups (i.e. HLH Group), simply adjust the delivery settings on your "Edit My Groups" page.

¤  File Sharing, Links, etc.
Attachments are NOT permitted. There are two sections on the group's website, "Files" and "Photos," where you can upload any picture or file you'd like to share with the group (up to 5 MB per file). Remember that pictures won't get displayed full-size in the "Photos" section, so please consider posting them in the "Files" section if they're very large or very important. If you're unable to access any of the files, the group has run out of its hourly data transfer limit. Please try again at a later time. Yahoo!Groups also offers features like "Database" (where you can create tables to list your age, location, interests, etc.), a "Chat" room, a "Links" section, and "Polls." Feel free to make use of any of them. They can be accessed at the group's website.

¤  Bouncing Mails
Some members have trouble with bouncing e-mails: Messages that are sent out by the group cannot be delivered to their mailboxes and are sent back to Yahoo. This can happen for various reasons, for example, when their mailboxes are full or their e-mail addresses have become obsolete, etc. Yahoo doesn't tolerate bouncing mails and will deactivate these persons' memberships. It will, however, send you a "reactivation request." All you have to do is reply to that (once you've fixed the problem with your mailbox), and Yahoo will resume sending you the messages. We will also send out these requests daily.

Please feel free to mail me about the group at any time with questions. Enjoy and have fun!!!!!!!
